Turkey’s trade with Iran does not contradict with sanctions on Iran, Philip J. Crowley, U.S. Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Public Affairs, said at a briefing on Wednesday.

“Turkey is a neighbour of Iran. It does have an economic relationship with Iran, and in fact, there are categories where trade between countries and Iran are fully authorized,” Crowley said.

According to him, there were special categories that were prohibited and Turkey had clearly indicated it would abide by its international obligations.
