A terrorist act killed at least 19 people and wounded 25 others in Kurdish Wardek village (northern Iraq), Reuters reports.

According to the agency, a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden truck into the village. Many houses were destroyed. There are women and children among the victims. However, the number of victims is likely to rise.

According to Iraqi police, another truck bomber tried to set off a second blast in the village, but local Kurdish security forces opened fire and killed him before he managed to activate the explosive device, Iraqi police said.
