On December 16, the Armenian Government amended one of its earlier decisions. The reason was the need for reducing the expenses on re-registration of vehicles to a minimum. Specifically, under the decision, owners of vehicles will not have to pay 5,000 AMD for re-registration.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan pointed out that the decision particularly applies to the agricultural sector. Pursuant to the Premier’s instruction, Chief of the RA police Alik Sargsyan provided explanations.

General Alik Sargsyan informed the meeting that free registration order applies to all the cars. “People using their personal vehicles just a few months a year expressed their discontent. We must help them,” General Sargsyan said.

Under the new re-registration procedure, owner of vehicles have to produce only necessary documents to the traffic police, without paying any state duties. Police officials say it will reduce insurance costs by 60%. So owners of vehicles will have to pay 8,000 to 9,000 AMD a month instead of 30,000 AMD.
