Today, December 18, a meeting-forum of leaders of telecommunication technologies without ties lunched in Aghveran (Armenia). The topic of the forum is the development of e-commerce in Armenia.

Until recently it was too early to talk about e-commerce in Armenia, since the Internet and computer sphere was in extremely poor condition. However, recent changes led to significant progress in Armenia, therefore it’s time to start talking about e-commerce. This was expressed by the chairman of the Union of Information Technology, Hovhannes Avoyan.  He also added that electronic commerce could create significant competitive advantages.

“We have a lot to do in Armenia”, - said Avoyan, stressing the importance of awareness of e-commerce and search for ways to address the implementation of this innovative forms of trade.

Meeting-forum is organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises with the support from Armenian government and the US program “Competitive Armenian Private Sector” (CAPS). About 70 different people - representatives of the Armenian banks and postal agencies, as well as leaders of IT-companies attended the forum.

The Forum-meeting of leaders of telecommunications technology without ties is being organized since 2007 and aims to gather the private and public sectors in one place, to discuss the priority issues of IT-field.
