Despite the vague allegations of Javad Shikhaliyev, Head of Azeri Interior Ministry Department for Combating Human Trafficking, that a fierce combat against trafficking was launched in the country, the number of trafficking preys soars in Azerbaijan.

ANS press informs that in 2009, 61 trafficking cases were registered totaling number of the preys to 71.

Meanwhile, Shikhaliyev maintains that everyone involved in the crime will be punished notwithstanding their status. He also pointed out that Azeri Cabinet of Ministers was presented with proposals to increase allowances for trafficking preys.
