On September 12, 2009 four militants were killed in a counterterrorist operation in Makhachkala, Interfax reports. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan the militants were suspected of involvement in the murder of deputy prosecutor in Kizil Yurt (Dagestan), Ria Novosti informs.

There is a woman among the dead militants. The militants’ identity is not yet established. According to the preliminary data, no enforcement agents were injured.

The special operation started on September 12 at 6 a.m. in Tarnair village, near Makhachkala (capital of Dagestan), where counterterrorist operation regime was announced, Lenta.ru reports
