On September 18, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. a methane leak explosion killed twelve miners and wounded three in Ruda Slaska-Kochlowice, Southern Poland.

According to Polish mass media, the fire broke out at Wujek-Slask mine (1050 meters underground). There were 38 miners in the emergency site, 29 of which saved themselves. No information on the miners’ health state is available.
