On March 21, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Secretary General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi.

The sides discussed steps towards improvement of Armenia’s competition policy. Nalbandian expressed content with the UNCTAD’s assistance in activities in the sphere of Armenia’s competition policy, the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi made a high appraisal of the cooperation with Armenia and the ongoing reforms in Armenia’s economic sector.

Edward Nalbandian presented Armenia’s foreign economic relations and the authorities’ steps aimed at their expansion. In his turn, the Secretary General presented his option to overcome global financial crisis.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was established in 1964 as a permanent intergovernmental body. It is the principal organ of the UN General Assembly dealing with trade, investment, and development issues. The Conference usually meets once in four years. UNCTAD XIII will be held in Doha, Qatar in 2012.
