The newly appointed NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen plans to pay a visit to Russia this December, RF Permanent Representative in NATO Dmitry Rogozin told a press conference.

“The visit is to take place before the end of this year. Most likely it is to follow the Russia-NATO Ministers’ Council meeting, early this December,” Rogozin said. He said that “the consultations on other issues of political dialogue and practical cooperation are being intensified.”

Rogozin stated Russia is resuming military and technical cooperation with NATO. “With this end in view, Head of the Federal Military and Technical Cooperation Service Mikhail Dmitriyev is going to Brussels with me,” he said. He pointed out Russia wants guarantees that the United State’s new ABM system will not be aimed against Russia.

Rogozin also reported that the Russia-NATO Council is to hold an ambassadorial meeting at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels on September 30.
