Armenia-Turkey Protocols to be signed between Armenia and Turkey are ‘historic’ for both countries, U.S. Senator for Indiana and member of the U.S. Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, Richard Lugar told Anatolia news agency. Lugar underlined that Yerevan-Ankara secret debates had been going for years.
“I hope that there would not be any obstacle before boosting relations between Turkey and Armenia,” said Lugar, adding that “the sub-committee to be established by the two countries would contribute to the solution of a disagreement on the incidents of 1915.”
“The debate on the incidents of 1915 has an impact on U.S. politics and almost every year it comes up at the U.S. Congress,” Lugar stated, underlining that “this is something not healthy for us and our relations with Turkey and Armenia.”
