Armenia-Turkey Protocols cannot be considered reconciliation between the two countries, RA National Assembly Vice-Speaker and ruling Armenian Republican Party member Samvel Nikoyan stated at the parliamentary hearings on “Initialed Protocols and Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process.”

According to Nikoyan, it is early to speak of full normalization of the relations and today the point at issue is the establishment of intergovernmental relations, NEWS.am reports. He recalled the fact that Turkey closed its border, regarded as a threat in Armenia.

The politician is confident these documents will not swamp the international process of Armenian Genocide recognition in any way. Moreover, all the countries recognizing that historic fact brought the Armenia-Turkey dialogue further, Nikoyan reckons. He also expressed an opinion that Armenia-Turkey normalization process is not conditioned by Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution.
