Armenian side, together with the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) will assess the Armenian freightage market. Ashot Shakhnazaryan, Member of the ICAP and Chairman of RA State Commission on Protection of Economic Competition, told journalists that Yerevan-Moscow flights are presently carried out by three Russian and one Armenian airline.
Nevertheless, price fluctuations are minor. “There is a smell of monopoly agreements,” Shakhnazaryan said.
According to him, the situation will be probed. He pointed out that aviation fuel price slumped from $1540 to $760 once ICAP interfered in 2008. However, the consumer pockets were hit when the decision to charge airfare in Euro was made.
