Water is being traded on Wall Street along with gold, oil, and other commodities, Bloomberg reported.
Plans to trade water futures became known back in September this year when wildfires and heatwaves caused serious damage to the US west coast.
Bloomberg notes that futures are pegged to the Nasdaq Veles California Water Index, which was launched in 2018. It measures the weighted average price of water.
