Italy's competition authority has fined Facebook € 7 million for failing to comply with a request to correct unlawful commercial practices in the processing of user data, Reuters reported.
In November 2018, the antitrust authority ruled that Facebook did not adequately inform users about the collection and use of data.
He fined the American company 5 million euros and asked it to post the modified statement on the home page of its website for Italy, on the Facebook application, and on the personal page of every registered Italian user.
The current investigation has proven that the company did not publish the amended statement and did not stop the established unfair practices, the authority said in a statement.
A Facebook spokesman said the company took note of the regulator's announcement but will await the council of state's decision on their appeal against the agency's initial findings.
