Facebook is launching Instagram Lite in 170 countries, which will allow users with poor internet access to the social network, Reuters reported.

Instagram Lite will be available for Android phones and requires less bandwidth than the traditional version. The app only requires 2 megabytes (MB) - compared 30 MB for Instagram - and it works even on slower 2G networks, allowing users in parts of India, Africa, Asia and Latin America with older internet infrastructure to access the service.

Tel Aviv has also developed Express WiFi to provide Internet access to about 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and South America.
