South Ossetia refuted the information on its involvement in the explosions on the Kartli-2 power line in eastern Georgia. A statement issued by the State Security Committee of South Ossetia says that the accusations against South Ossetia are "a new attempt by the Georgian regime to distract the citizens’ attention from the grave situation inside the country.’ The methods are typical of the Georgian special services.

The Georgian Ministry of the Interior instituted criminal proceedings. The explosions were designated as a terrorist act. According to the Ministry, the explosive was fixed on four posts and gone off by means of a remote control. The power line transmits the energy to eastern Georgia. Geogian believes the saboteurs penetrated from South Ossetia.
