On May 17, a Czech delegation headed by Premier Jan Fischer arrived on a 2-day working visit to Armenia. RA Premier Tigran Sargsyan received his Czech counterpart and held a private meeting with him, followed by an enlarged-format meeting.

The Czech Premier stressed the visit will be another positive move in the development of bilateral relations, The Information and PR Department, RA Government, informed NEWS.am. Sargsyan pointed out the need for bilateral contractual underpinnings.

The sides give priority to cooperation in informational technologies, energy, mining and chemical industry, construction of small hydro power plants, education, youth and sport, as well as in the tourist industry. The RA Premier also pointed out the necessity to develop cultural ties, enabling the enhancement of friendly relations.

The parties stressed the importance of the Armenian-Czech business forum in Yerevan. The officials also addressed the expansion of cooperation under EU-launched Eastern Partnership project. Premier Sargsyan pointed out the importance of adopting the Czech experience under the Twinning Project.

The Premiers addressed regional issues as well. Tigran Sargsyan welcomed the Czech Republic’s position on the Karabakh conflict. “We attach significance to the balanced stance of our Czech partners on the Karabakh issue, particularly that the negotiation process within the OSCE MG will enable the sides to find a peaceful solution to the conflict,” he said.
