At a press conference following the talks with Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the first time named the reasons for his country to open the border with Armenia.

Aliyev said that a breakthrough in relations with Armenia will be made if Yerevan positively responds to the OSCE Minsk Group proposals and starts withdrawing its troops “from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.” In this case Azerbaijan will open the borders and communication with Armenia. The Azerbaijani President pointed out his country accepted the mediators’ proposals with minor exceptions and currently expects a similar approach from the Armenian side, ITAR TASS reports.
