Official Baku is critical of Yerevan’s stance on the Karabakh peace process, Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov said at a joint press conference with his Czech counterpart Jan Kohout, 1news.az reports.

“The document proposed by the three chairing states is ready. The Co-Chairs visited the region nearly every month within the recent two years. Nine meetings of the Presidents took place, the document did not emerge from nowhere,” he said.

Mammadyarov noted once again that Azerbaijan accepts the updated Madrid Principles.

“We are ready to take up drafting a broad peaceful agreement. Unfortunately, the Armenian side has not yet stated its position on the updated principles. In this regard, the process is protracted and it is unclear what steps should be taken to advance. Thus I regard the developments as negative,” Mammadyarov stated.

The Azerbaijani FM expressed hope that in Venice the Co-Chairs will inform him of Armenia’s stance they had discussed during their Brussels meeting.

Yesterday, RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian held a meeting with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Bernard Fassier (France), Robert Bradtke (U.S.), Igor Popov (Russia) and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk in Brussels.
