The opening ceremony of a Hay Dat European committee office (European Armenian Federation for Democracy and Justice) in Georgia has been held in Tbilisi. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Ministry for Integration, U.S. Embassy, Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese, Armenian organizations and NGOs, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) press service informed NEWS.am.

The office will be headed by Gevorg Harutyunyan. Head of ARFD “Hay Dat” Office in Europe Hilda Choboyan underlined the importance of resolving the problems of human rights and Georgia’s ethnic minorities.

Georgia is involved in EU Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership programs, which is an opportunity for such organizations to contribute to resolving numerous problems and meet European standards, Choboyan said.

Gevorg Harutyunyan also pointed out the importance of studying the problems of Armenians in Georgia and working out mechanisms of resolving them. In this context, Javakhk is “the main target.”

“We will study the state of Javakhk Armenians and Georgian Government’s programs, as well as examine what they intend to do in Javakhk. But the organization will not restrict its activities to Javakhk alone. We will see how people live and later speak of serious points,” he said.

Representatives of Georgia’s other ethnic minorities also participated in the event.
