The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) apologized to Azerbaijani leaders and people for not including Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan in the map in its 2009 report.
As soon as the mistake was revealed Thursday evening, the EBRD Baku office contacted with the Azerbaijani authorities. The online version of the report was immediately corrected, whereas the printed versions were withdrawn from circulation, says the EBRD statement.
It was not the first “mistake” concerning Azerbaijan’s map and geopolitical location. A year ago Azerbaijan was included in the list of Asian states on Euronews website, whereas Armenia and Georgia in the European one. In another case, Karabakh was presented as part of Armenia in one of the Swedish governmental websites. In all the mentioned cases Azerbaijani media prepared letters and called their visitors to put their signatures to the letters addressed to those “mistaking.”
