The May 23 parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh are evidence of democracy in the country, stated RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

“The free and fair elections in Nagorno-Karabakh formed legitimate authorities, local and state government bodies,” he said. The Minister stressed that international observers made high appraisal of all the elections held in the country, which met international standards. According to the minister, this is evidence of democracy, rule of law and people’s confidence in the authorities.

Minister Nalbandian said that the Nagorno-Karabakh people’s right to self-determination is a key point in the OSCE Minsk Group’s proposals. The international community should be keenly interested in cooperating with the legitimate Nagorno-Karabakh authorities in settling the conflict. “By participating in the elections, the NKR people have confirmed their will and right to freedom,” Nalbandian said.
