At a press conference in Yerevan May 25, the first Speaker of the Slovakian Parliament, MP Frantisek Miklosko proposed an alternative way of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Nagorno-Karabakh problem is vital for Europe and the EU, he said. Frantisek Miklosko compared Europe to a strong chain with equally strong links. Europe’s only weakest link is the sensitive issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, he said.
Miklosko finds the Benelux union an exemple of peace to the South Caucasus.
The Slovakian MP believes that the EU might propose associative membership to Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan in the near future, which would help the three countries develop more rapidly and become candidates for full EU membership. He pointed out the necessity for Azerbaijan to accept this idea as well.
