Different countries have stepped up their efforts not to recognize the NKR parliamentary elections, as the international community realizes it is the right moment to exert pressure on Armenia, the former foreign minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Arman Melikyan told journalists May.

According to him, it is “the right moment for the last spurt” both for Armenia and for the international community, as exerting pressure “will be senseless tomorrow.” “As for the elections, most of NKR parties are pro-governmental forces, so no major changes are expected in Karabakh after the parliamentary elections,” Melikyan said. He pointed out that competition between the parties can hardly be noticed.

The key to to the resolution of the conflict is in Yerevan, and Armenia should have long ago launched the process of recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh, Melikyan stressed. “Unless we make other countries stop being inactive toward Karabakh, any further progress is out of the question,” he said.

Parliamentary elections were held in Nagorno-Karabakh on May 23.
