Turkish President Abdullah Gül was interviewed by L’Express periodical about the Armenia-Turkey Protocols, TRT e-source informs.

As concerns submission of the Protocols for parliamentary ratification, Guls stated, “good will always yields good results.”

Asked whether there had been international pressure for starting the normalization process, he said, ‘there has not been any external pressure fort this process to launch. Our foreign policy aims at ensuring peace and stability in this region, with good relations to the extent possible with our neighbors. Afterall we thank everyone who have contributed to the process,’" the source informs.

Concerning a criticism on Turkey’s concessions, Gül underlined, “it is not right to approach in that way. We can never reach peace if we think in that way. We should have a broad vision toward the long-term.”

When asked “there are still Armenian soldiers in Nagorno-Karabakh; isn’t this a concession for Ankara?”, the President underlined “it is unacceptable that a country’s territory is under occupation by another country’s soldiers. We should solve this problem through dialogue. Again, we should widen our perspectives. Why Azerbaijan and Armenia should not ameliorate their relations?” – TRT reads.

As for the 1915 incidents, President Gül said Turkey has shown good intentions by opening all its archives for scientists around the world, including military archives." “Let all historians to research on this issue; we recognize the results,” TRT quotes Gul.
