“Armenian side is negotiating with Gazprom OJSC and has preliminary agreement that the gas price for Armenia will make U.S. $180 per 1000m³. The negotiations carry on and depending on the changes in oil and gas market price, the relevant changes in the agreement are possible. However, we formulate our strategy based on rate of U.S. $180,” said ArmRosGazprom Company Board Chairman Karen Karapetyan.

Karapetyan refuted information that gas rate reduction is connected with guarantees by Armenian side and that the construction of new Armenian NPP unit will be ceded to Russian companies, NEWS.am correspondent reports. “At times press publishes nonsense. NPP has zero relation with gas,” he said.

Earlier Kommersant reported that Moscow is ready to reduce price for the gas supplied to Armenia, reckoning to get in return the right for a new Armenian NPP construction.

Karen Karapetyan stated that U.S. $180 rate is the most reasonable in the region. Karapetyan asserts that Armenia has purchased gas at an exclusive price from Russia for last 12 years.
