YEREVAN.- The Middle East developments are very important both for Armenia and the Armenian community of the region, said head of Noravank foundation, Armenian research center, Gagik Harutunyan.

He considers that under current circumstances, members of the Armenian community may leave the Middle East for Europe.

“A big game is in progress, developments in the Middle East and North Africa are a global transformation process. Events ongoing in Libya should be regarded as a process carried out with assistance of external forces,” he said.

However, the expert said these developments will not have a direct impact on Armenia’s political life.

The explosive situation may lead to repetition of Iraq scenario, Harutunyan considers. “In this case we must host our compatriots in Armenia,” he concluded.
