The Taliban movement called on Afghan people to boycott the presidential elections, the Wall Street Journal daily reports.
The threats to attack polls were voiced. “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan urges the people of Afghanistan to not participate in the elections, and once again prove that they are true believers,” reads the statement sent to the Wall Street Journal. According to the daily, the name “referring to the Taliban and allied groups” was used in the message.
However, according to Reuters news agency Islamists failed to disrupt elections implicitly.
