Three U.S. helicopters collided in Afghanistan causing death of at least fourteen Americans, ABC News website reports.

The two helicopters crashed in the south, while the third in the west of the country. The cause of the incident is being investigated, though the soldiers say “hostile fire was not involved”, the source says.

Taliban claimed the responsibility. Times quotes the movement spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi: “There was fighting in the bazaar between foreign troops and the Taliban. During the fighting the Taliban shot down a foreign helicopter.”
