YEREVAN. – The stable prediction BB rating, which Fitch Ratings Agency has given to Armenia, is unbiased, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan stated at the beginning of today’s governmental session.

Sargsyan also invited the opponents’ and analysts’ attention specifically on the assessment of state debt. The report by Fitch Ratings notes that among the countries with a BB rating, foreign debt of the Republic of Armenia is at manageable level and, in comparison with similar countries, the debt is lower than the average indicator.

In PM’s words, Armenia’s current foreign debt is approximately 40 percent of the GDP, and it completely consists of long-term and special credits from international organizations.

“In reality, the problem of foreign debt should not be inflated,” Sargsyan concluded.

Fitch Ratings Agency had last reviewed Armenia’s rating in late August. In 2009, Armenia’s rating was dropped one level as a result of the economic crisis. In actual fact, Fitch Ratings maintains the same rating for Armenia which it had given during the crisis.
