Armenian woman was included in the list of 91 defendants charged with Medicare fraud schemes.
Zina Tamamian, who ran Gana Medical Supply in Sherman Oaks, is charged with submitting approximately $2.9 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare for durable medical equipment and orthotics, most of which was never provided to patients, The Los Angeles Daily News reported. Tamamian, 49, is considered a fugitive.
Last year Armenian criminals and their associates used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat Medicare out of $100 million, the largest fraud by one criminal enterprise in the program’s history. The operation was under the protection of an Armenian crime boss Armen Kazarian, nicknamed Pzo He was also among the first arrestees in Los Angeles.
