Armenian woman was included in the list of 91 defendants charged with Medicare fraud schemes.

Zina Tamamian, who ran Gana Medical Supply in Sherman Oaks, is charged with submitting approximately $2.9 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare for durable medical equipment and orthotics, most of which was never provided to patients, The Los Angeles Daily News reported. Tamamian, 49, is considered a fugitive.

Last year Armenian criminals and their associates used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat Medicare out of $100 million, the largest fraud by one criminal enterprise in the program’s history.
