November 3, the Chairman of the NA standing committee on European integration Naira Zohrabyan received EU Advisory Group head Rolf Bencke and EU representative Uffe Holst Yensen. The officials discussed issues on parliamentary format of European neighborhood program EuroNest congress and the appointment of EU Counsellor to the RA Parliament.
The marked congress EuroNest should not create new confines, but on the contrary to try to assist the cooperation development in the region, RA National Assembly press service informed NEWS.am. According to Zohrabyan, parliamentary format will doom to failure attempting to place regional issues on agenda. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan claims it has no intention to cooperate with Armenia in the frames of European neighborhood policy. Moreover, Azerbaijani representative in Stockholm displayed deconstructive position, demanding to include regional conflicts, in particular Karabakh issue in EuroNest agenda.
Zohrabyan hailed positive the scheduled appointment of EU Counsellor to RA National Assembly, as bringing Armenian legislation into compliance with European standards is one of the major constituents of integration.
The EU officials underlined that both EU Counsellors in RA Parliament are well-experienced. It remains to be seen what they will advise to Armenian MPs, as the latters, for instance oligarchs do not appear with any legislative initiatives and are hardly at the rostrum.
