One of the topical issues of the 64th session of UN General Assembly in New York is the right to self-determination.
The session was aboil with controversy, as Russia, Georgia, India, Pakistan, Armenia, Iran, Syria, Palestine and Israel incited the discussions, all having issues with execution of nations’ self-determination right. In particular, Azerbaijani delegation representatives in their speeches tried to postpone their interests to the territorial integrity over other principles of international law. In response, Armenian delegate made a point of the free right of nations’ self-determination, adding that the present regional situation is a consequence of the ethnic cleansings of NKR peaceful Armenian population by Azerbaijani authorities, mass assassinations, and eventually the military aggression as well as the war.
