There is no necessity in close cooperation betаween Armenia and forces of NATO. This kind of opinion was expressed to IA news.am by the chairman of Democratic Party of Armenia Asam Sargsyan, in past the counselor of Armenian president in foreign policy questions.

As to Aram Sargsyan, Armenia cooperates with NATO within certain framework taking into consideration the demands of national security. “Taking into account the high level of cooperation between Armenia and CST, the necessity of NATO’s positions strengthening in the republic is not foreseen. The fact of the agreement about the formation of Collective forces of operative reaction within the frames of CSTO signed by Armenia also witnesses of solidity of reаlationship between Armenia and collective security treaty organization”, — considers Sargsyan.

It should be noted that the Agreement about Collective forces of operative reaction (CFOR) was signed by the heads of CSTO participant countries in Moscow, on June 14. This document was signed by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, and Tadzhikistan. President of Belarus denied participating in summit due to “milk conflict” with Russia, that’s why his signature is absent in this document. Uzbekistan also didn’t join the agreement.аа

The signed document about CFOR creation determines the activity of collective forces and the terms of their application. In accordance with the agreement, the composition of CFOR means is determined and will consist of military forces and the formation of CSTO participant countries. The plan of CSTO participant countries` activities for reaction to extraordinary situations’ and a plan of counteraction against illegal migration of the third countries’ citizens until 2012 is also determined by the agreement.
