Despite notes of protest filed by EU, Sudan President will arrive in Turkey, CNNTurk reports.
EU filed a note of protest to Turkey, as the country does not intend to arrest Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir. EU recalls there is a verdict of the International Criminal Court and Turkey as a country seeking to join EU, should take it into consideration.
Commenting on the note of protest, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said: “Why do they interfere? Al-Bashir arrives in Turkey to participate in summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference only. It is not a bilateral visit, that is the difference.”
March 4, 2009 the International Criminal Court ruled to arrest Sudan President on a charge of the crime against humanity in Darfur. According to NATO data, 200.000 people were killed during the 4-year civil war in Darfur (west Sudan).
