Isotope laboratories need to be set up in Armenia to check the quality of brandy. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this during the debates the ratification of the agreement on the harmonized system of determining the origin of goods exported from the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union at Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia.

Earlier, the results of a study by the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition were made public, according to which, brandy distillation was replaced by unknown alcohol in half of the samples of Armenian brandies being sold in Russia.

"The Armenian side values its national brand—brandy. To this end, an isotope laboratory will be set up to inspect the quality of brandy being exported from Armenia," said Papoyan. According to him, the financial resources have already been allocated for this.

"All batches of [Armenian] brandies being exported will be tested in the isotope laboratory. Then they will be sent for export," said the economy minister. According to the member of the Armenian government, this will solve the problem.
