YEREVAN. – ‘“[The opposition Armenian National Congress] ANC needs to clarify [the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP’s stance, as soon as possible. If today PAP decides to run in the elections on its own, it will be persecuted by the authority of [the coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA. That is, the RPA-PAP fight must start,’ former PM Hrant Bagratyan told our [168 Zham daily] reporter, commenting on ANC leader [and Armenia’s First President] Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s ‘politological analysis’ in connection with PAP.          

According to him, in this way ANC pushed PAP to run in the parliamentary elections as a separate political force. ‘I believe the most likely scenario after the May 6 elections is that PAP will come to [capital Yerevan’s] Liberty Square to join [against] the disturbance of fair elections, [and] the process of fighting against election fraud. Even if we suppose that PAP has a relative independence, ANC would be the first to want for PAP to receive many votes,’ Hrant Bagratyan said,” 168 Zham daily writes.
