Worldwide Amnesty International organization called sentenced Azeri bloggers Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade “prisoners of conscience”.

“The charges against the two activists were fabricated to curtail their right to freedom of expression and in response to their criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities. Both men must be released immediately and unconditionally,” said the director of Amnesty International's Europe and Central Asia programme Nicola Duckworth, Amnesty International website reads.

Human Rights Watch organization also criticized the actions of Azerbaijani authorities. “The criminal convictions of two young activist bloggers are a step backward for free expression in Azerbaijan,” the organization website reports. The source quotes South Caucasus Researcher at Human Rights Watch Giorgi Gogia: “There is a longstanding pattern of Azerbaijani officials filing trumped-up charges against journalists to punish them for critical or satirical comment.”

November 11, Emin Milli (Alumni Network Coordinator) and Adnan Hajizade( Ol youth movement leader) were sentenced to 2.5 and 2 years’ imprisonment respectively.
