YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Rescue Service received a call Wednesday, in Armenia’s Lori Region, that a grass-covered area was burning nearby the Tashir city cemetery. 

A firefighting squad was dispatched to the scene.

Subsequently, information was received from Hayantar (Armforest) state-run company that 10-16 new fires were seen in the Region. 

Military servicemen also were dispatched to the scenes, plus employees from Hayantar company and Tashir City Hall, and residents of the nearby villages also took part in the firefighting activities.

The fires were put out, and a total of 1,700-hectare grass- and 300-hectare forest-covered areas were destroyed as a result of the fires, Rescue Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
