Bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial can inspire Turkish society to throw off the denial pressure and come to terms with the past, said French MP Dominique Souchet.

“Turks offer to set up a committee of historians as if the fact of the Armenian Genocide was a disputable issue. It is unacceptable. I consider this law is finalizing the consistent struggle of the Armenian Diaspora,” said Souchet, one of the members of Armenia-France parliamentary friendship group.

French MPs are discussing the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial which supposes a year imprisonment and 45,000 euro fine for denial of the fact of genocide.
