Denial policy is not an opinion it is lie on a state level, said French MP from Socialist Party Sylvie Andrieux.

She recalled that a law against racism and discrimination was adopted 30 years ago but it proved not to be sufficient for struggle against racism and discrimination.

“Denial policy should be punished strictly. France is not striving to defame Turkey. We are adherent to normalizing of relations between Armenia and Turkey,” she said.

Meanwhile, MP form Union for a Popular Movement Michel Diefenbacher opposed the bill.

“Whatever the feelings of Armenians are, the parliament is not authorized to vote for the bill. Holocaust was assessed during the Nuremberg Trials. We will do Armenians a bad turn if we approve the bill without a legal assessment of the Armenian Genocide,” he said.
