ISTANBUL. – Renowned Istanbul-Armenian writer and linguist, Sevan Nisanyan, and Umit Ozdag, member of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), debated on the air of Turkey’s Kanal D television, and discussed the French National Assembly’s passing, on Thursday, of the bill that criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide   

During the television’s “32nd Day” live program, Sevan Nisanyan noted that Turkey must apologize for what had happened to the Armenians. “Turkey is fighting for already thirty years, but the world does not believe in the Turkish lies. Even if Turkey were to fight for thirty more years, it will be all the same; it will not be successful. The Armenians have made the world accept the fact of the [Armenian] Genocide,” Nisanyan said.  

And the Armenian writer’s words infuriated the Turkish nationalist, who claimed that Turkey had not committed an offense for which it should apologize, stressing that if his party were to come to power, it would be able to thwart the Armenians.
