India may resume dialogue with Pakistan if Islamabad takes concrete steps in the fight against terrorism, said Shashi Tharoor, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of the Indian parliament, who led an Indian parliamentary delegation to Brazil.

Dialogue is possible, but Pakistan must demonstrate a real change in its policy towards terrorist groups operating on its territory, Tharoor said, NDTV reports.

According to the Indian politician, New Delhi has always been ready for peaceful cooperation, but an unconditional resumption of negotiations is impossible when terrorism remains a tool of foreign policy.

Until Pakistan changes its course, India will be cautious about diplomatic rapprochement, Tharoor stressed.

Relations between India and Pakistan have strained considerably after the April 22 terror attack in the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 25 Indians and one Nepali.
