Our trade and economic relations are currently on the rise, and the results of the past year are a convincing testimony to this. This was stated by the speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, during the tenth Armenian-Russian Interregional Forum being held in Yerevan Friday.

According to Matvienko, Armenia and Russia have been able to almost completely switch to calculations in national currencies, both within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and on a bilateral basis, which has a great cumulative effect.

Also, she expressed satisfaction with the fact that Russian companies are actively working in Armenia and feel comfortable in the country.

“More than forty companies in Armenia are companies with Russian capital. We have no conflicts, we work on a competitive basis and mutually beneficially. Also, Russia is one of the main investors in Armenia’s economy, the amount of Russian investments accumulated in Armenia’s economy already amounts to more than $4 billion. We make calculations in national currencies, but the measurement of amounts is still in US dollars. Let's somehow move away from this tradition,” Matvienko added.
