The identities of those killed and injured in the explosion and subsequent collapse caused by a natural gas leak in an apartment of a building in Chambarak, Armenia on Wednesday morning have been determined, reports shamshyan.com.

Accordingly, building residents 42-year-old Guzh Karapetyan, 43-year-old Hripsime Avetisyan, 13-year-old Karen Karapetyan, 68-year-old Karapet Karinyan, 78-year-old Svetlana Mkrtumyan, 48-year-old Naira Harutyunyan, 63-year-old Anush Martirosyan, 50-year-old Anush Babayan, 6-year-old Vachagan Shahbazyan, 9-year-old Karen Shahbazyan, and 13-year-old Ani Khchoyan had sustained injuries and were taken to the Chambarak hospital.

And the dead bodies of 87-year-old Roza Vardanyan, 89-year-old Roza Movsesyan, 61-year-old Hrachya Lazaryan, 76-year-old Hripsime Sargsyan, and 54-year-old Artur Sargsyan were pulled out from under the rubble.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that at 8:34am on Wednesday, the crisis management center of the Gegharkunik provincial rescue department of Armenia received a report that a fire had broken out in an apartment in a building in Chambarak town.

According to preliminary data, a natural gas explosion had occurred in an apartment on the third floor of the aforesaid building. As a result, the apartments on the fourth, third, and second floors of the building collapsed. And apartments in the adjacent entrance of this building partially collapsed.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched criminal proceedings into the Chambarak explosion.
