YEREVAN. – The Armenian dram (AMD) started the week’s first trading week with a drop at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange, as one US dollar’s average exchange rate constituted AMD 388.15.
The stock exchange had seen no trading on Friday, and, in comparison with the previous day, the dollar gained value by 0.17 percent.
In general, $8.42 million was sold at the stock exchange on Monday. And considering the seasonal factor, this is a fairly considerable amount, and it bespeaks the Central Bank’s intervention. To note, the Bank sold $6.2 million at the stock exchange, last week, which was enough to prevent the dram’s fall.
At present, there are no substantial changes in Armenia’s cash foreign currency market. The country’s exchange offices purchase the dollar at a maximum of AMD 387.5, and sell at a minimum of 389.5.
