The Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: [PM] Nikol Pashinyan’s authorities are already approaching the final phase of implementing his plan.

Sources of the Zhoghovurd daily report that after the arrest of Bishop Arshak [Khachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin], Pashinyan will move to the issue of arrest of the Catholicos [of All Armenians, Karekin II] in the next phase, since the latter does not intend to make concessions.

Sources of Zhoghovurd report that Pashinyan wants at all costs to increase the number of Bishops who have crossed over to his side, betrayed the Catholicos, [and] who must also announce the demand for the Catholicos’ resignation for the sake of the [Armenian Apostolic] church, the renewal of spiritual life.

According to our sources in the authorities, law-enforcement bodies are working in that direction, and in the near future they must take the Catholicos into custody. You may ask on what grounds… It does not matter; the main thing is that the Supreme Patriarch ends up in isolation, after which the text of his resignation will appear on the internet.

And it is not at all important whether that letter will be real or fake. The main thing: there will be a resignation text in the name of Karekin II, and the process of removing the Catholicos [from power] will begin.
