Armenia must determine its national and competitive advantages and stimulate the relevant sectors, Tatul Manaseryan, Advisor to the Speaker of the RA Parliament, told reporters.

The Government is unable to ensure progress in all the sectors so it should select a number of the most competitive sectors and develop them. “It is not the sectors that need diversifying, but, say, investments sources,” Manasaryan said. Speaking of the present state of Armenia’s economy, as well as of the period of economic growth, Manasaryan accounted for that by economic recovery, drawing a parallel with post-war Germany, which used to register annual growth of 30-40 per cent against the current 3-4 per cent.

As regards the Government-forecast 1.2% economic growth next year against this year’s 18% decline, Manaseryan said: “I am more optimistic – the growth will exceed 1.2 per cent if the right economic policy is implemented and the funds are efficiently used,” Manaseyan said.
