U.S. expects Armenia’s assistance in carrying out peace-support missions, particularly in Afghanistan, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia Celeste Wallander told the journalists Dec. 3.
According to her, she familiarized herself with activities of Armenian peacekeeping brigade and its structure. The issues on Armenian peacekeepers’ participation in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan were discussed. “You are probably aware of U.S. President Barack Obama’s decision on increase of peacemaking forces in Afghanistan. Armenia is also our partner and we expect Yerevan’s assistance in these programs,” she outlined.
