The residents of Armenia’s Marmarashen village in Ararat Province have closed off the Yerevan-Artashat motorway. They demand that the former Yerevan-Marmarashen public transport route be restored.

A demonstrator said that this protest of theirs was not political, they were promised that this public transport would be resolved, but it has not been resolved yet, and therefore the Marmarashen residents are protesting now and demanding that this issue be resolved.

The license of the company serving Yerevan's public transport route No. 44—between Yerevan and Marmarashen—had expired about three months ago.

As a result, the only public transport means for the Marmarashen villagers at the moment are the buses serving the Yerevan-Artashat route. But these buses are filled to capacity and virtually do not stop in Marmarashen.
